Kvochko Andrey Nikolaevich was born on August 4, 1967 in the village of Ovoshchi, Turkmensky District, Stavropol Krai, Russian Federation. In 1991, he graduated with honors from the veterinary faculty of the Stavropol Order of the Red Banner of Labor Agricultural Institute. In 1994, he defended his PhD thesis on the topic of "Physiological and genetic aspects of urolithiasis in merino sheep". In 1994, he became a scholarship holder of the President of the Russian Federation for studying abroad in 1994-1996. In 2002, he defended his doctoral dissertation on the topic of "Dynamics of morphofunctional indicators of the urinary system and parenchymatous organs of merino sheep in norm and with urolithiasis".
Scientific and pedagogical activity of Professor Kvochko A.N. for over 30 years has been associated with work at Stavropol State Agrarian University, where for 21 years he has headed the leading department of physiology, surgery and obstetrics. For the agro-industrial complex of Russia, Kvochko A.N. has trained more than 4,000 highly qualified veterinarians working in many regions of the country and neighboring states.
Research activities of Kvochko A.N. are focused on priority areas of Russian and world science, dedicated to developments in functional morphology, genetics, pathology and veterinary surgery of domestic animals.
Professor Kvochko A.N. for the first time proved the possibility of inheritance of urolithiasis by merino sheep and proposed criteria for early diagnosis and prevention of this form of pathology, which were used by the National Union of Sheep Breeders of the Russian Federation in the selection and purchase of breeding rams from Australia and implemented in breeding farms of the Stavropol Territory. This made it possible to reduce the occurrence of urolithiasis in sheep to 0.01% and maintain the health of highly valuable animals with the cost of one breeding animal exceeding 100 thousand rubles.
Kvochko A.N. in co-authorship for the first time identified candidate alleles of genes associated with a high level of meat productivity in sheep bred in the North Caucasus. Their use in predicting the meat productivity of animals made it possible to increase profits (by 8 - 25%) and the level of profitability (by 12 - 23%) in breeding farms of the Stavropol Krai in the production of lamb.
Kvochko A.N. for the first time in the cells of tissues and organs of domestic animals and birds described the parameters of the nucleolar organizer zones, proved that the nuclei in the erythrocytes of birds are functionally active.
Kvochko A.N. established a correlative relationship between the protein-synthetic function of cells and the differentiation of tissues of domestic animals, obtained new data on the adaptive plasticity of their body in case of damage to the urinary and reproductive systems, which were introduced into the agro-industrial complex of the North Caucasus Federal District, which made it possible to improve the methods for assessing the exterior and interior parameters of animals, conduct early diagnostics of pathological conditions and adjust the adequacy of feeding rations.
Kvochko A.N. proposed new surgical approaches to the kidneys of small unproductive animals, substantiated the use of a number of suture materials in reparative veterinary surgery of the urinary organs, this ensures 100% survival of animals after surgery and has found wide application in the clinics of the Association of Practicing Veterinarians of the Stavropol Territory and the Russian Federation.
Kvochko A.N. the main developer of the professional standards "Veterinarian", "Veterinary paramedic" and "Operator for artificial insemination of animals and birds", approved in accordance with the established procedure.
Kvochko A.N. provides advisory assistance to zoo-veterinary specialists of the North Caucasian and Southern Federal Districts, the treatment and preventive measures developed by him for surgical and gynecological pathologies in cows make it possible to reduce the number of days of infertility by 20-25 and increase milk productivity by 10-15%.
Kvochko A.N. works as an expert of the Russian Academy of Sciences for the assessment of scientific activities of scientific and educational institutions and an expert of Sberbank of the Russian Federation for the assessment of funding for priority research in science.
From 2014 to 2022, Kvochko A.N. as a member of the expert council on zootechnical and veterinary sciences of the Higher Attestation Commission under the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, he carried out the certification of scientific personnel, developed a passport for specialty 4.2.1 - Animal pathology, morphology, physiology, pharmacology and toxicology.
